The North Face is leading the charge in redefining hiking with its latest commercial, created to resonate with a new generation of outdoor explorers. Reframed as far more than just a sport, hiking is presented as a form of self-expression.

Set deep in the wild, the film centres on the chemistry of a group of young people living freely, exploring, laughing, and embracing the moment together. Whatever the elements throw their way, the brand’s clothing keeps them protected while still looking effortlessly cool.

Colourist Ryan Urzi of Ethos Studio clearly understood the assignment. His grade amplifies Charlie Owens’s sublime cinematography giving it an untamed, uninhibited energy, which adds texture and atmosphere. Yet another example in an increasingly impressive canon of work from the brilliant Leigh Powis.
