Don't you love it when a brand does something unexpected? This is one of several new ads for Tapi, a carpet and flooring supplier, that instantly elevates it above their competition, simply through the power of creativity. The concept is simple... two slippers talking about their disagreement concerning colour choice, and how they resolved it, concluded by an intervention from an odd sock which undermines the whole conversation. The voice work is excellent, and brings to mind the Home Electric creature comforts work from the 1980s. Naturalistic performances rendered into something extraordinarily comical by the entities to which they are attached. It isn't just chatbots that we are inclined to think of as human... Florence Poppy Deary has brought each of the four characters to life simply by combining human voices with rudimentary puppetry, and the result is very charming.
