When you HAVE to golf.
Decent golf ads are like buses: you wait ages for one, then two come along at once. Hot on the heels of Puma/Cobra Golf's spot about OPTM addicts comes a Srixon commercial that explores what happens when the game sinks its teeth into someone. From the moment someone first travelled to the back of beyond and hit a leather ball with a stick, golf's done a number on so, so many of us. Graded to a tee by RASCAL's Tim Smith, a pacy montage gets down to the nitty-gritty of golf, from its ability to steal players away for hours and hours and hours to the almost sadomasochistic urge to play another round, even if the course has made chewed someone up and spat them out. Endure it, says the brand—when the game's taken enough, it'll give something back, like a lucky bounce or a flushed shot. The brand itself is hooked on golf (the narrator went off the deep end a long time ago), so promises to help players 'cope' with clubs and balls that hold up to obsession. A swing and a hit ahead of the new season.
