Don't lose it... or you might lose it.
We all lose it from time to time and Emma Stone demonstrates that she's no exception in the second ad in an excellent new campaign for Squarespace starring the Hollywood actor. The switch up from poised composure to unhinged menace is remarkable by any standards, but completely consistent with the idea of Stone established in the first spot. At first, Stone seems to have recovered her poise after the unhinged meltdowns of the first execution which, like this ad, was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. But, after a negotiation with the owner of 'her' domain, conducted initially via a personal assistant, we get to see that she is still raging with entitlement. It's a faultlessly executed proposition with the big budget blockbuster parody working as a piece of entertainment without distracting from the advertising message - Emma Stone really, really wants emmaStone.com, and - based on her distress - we ought to realise that we should secure our own domains before anyone else nabs them. Yorgos Lanthimos has enough status that he would provide value for a production company if he just sat on their roster without ever being available for any advertising projects, but this is not the path he has chosen. He has not only opted to genuinely take part, he has brought his A game, and we should all be grateful, because it adds lustre to the entire industry to have him making brilliant work for the advertising industry.
