Skittles

"Elijah Wood"

Horny, horny, horny.

This Jim Hosking-directed Skittles commercial blows in the best possible way. A prelude to the brand's Super Bowl LX spot, it stars Elijah Wood as a three-legged, one-horned man-beast cursed to deliver Skittles here, there, and everywhere. When, say, a couple of teenagers blow a magic horn, he's transported from the woods to a high school, where he choose to vent his spleen at last.

"I didn't sign up for this! I have no will," he says, like a creature that reached the end of its fuzzy tether a long time ago. Not that the sardonic students care—so long as they have the horn (careful now), they get free Skittles for life. That's... not great for the delivery guy, of course, but what is great is the chance to have the candy's Super Bowl ad performed live at your address.

That means another star turn from Elijah Wood, whoever that is. Much to the creature's chagrin, the kids have no idea who the 'Lord of the Rings', 'Sin City', and 'Yellowjackets' actor is, which suits the brand's subversive take on celebrity endorsements. Eight years on from David Schwimmer's random assortment of Super Bowl ads, we're keen to see if Wood's got what it takes to steal the show on February 8.
