Beggars can be choosers.
Desperate times don't necessarily call for desperate measures. Two men stranded in the desert, for example, need a ride ASAP—when a beat-up old car pulls over, they're saved… right? For some inexplicable reason, however, the hitchhikers turn down the offer of the lift and send the car on its way. Are they dumber than Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas? It sure as hell seems like it as they knock back car after car after car, much to the confusion of good Samaritans. They even say no to a truck full to the brim with bottled water, though one of the men has to be dragged away by the other. Thirst, heatstroke, insanity… they'd rather succumb to all three at once then get into a ruddy vehicle. Unless the right vehicle shows up, that is. They did want to be rescued after all, but only by a Scania—a Swedish-made truck that's worth the wait (and a few blisters). It's brand loyalty taken to the extreme, and director Max Sherman ensures viewers enjoy the ride thanks to well-judged character beats. An acoustic cover of Avicii's 'Hey Brother' ties it all together and teases a late reminder that, er, seat happens.
