Play it again, Sam.
Reebok’s latest tie-up with golf brand Manors arrives against a backdrop of scorched fairways and greens on life support. As heatwaves take their toll on courses up and down the country, players can at least distract themselves with the United Kingdom of Golf, as brought to life by agency Stink Studios and director Dan French. The follow-up to last year's 'No Thanks, I'l Walk' stars former Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance as the guide with the golden voice, his mellifluous tones paired with a script that covers history (King James II banned the sport as it drew men away from "mandatory archery practice"), geography (the weather sure loves to, er, chip in where it can), and even politics (we love what the club committee does to people). Played for laughs—with a healthy scorecard to show for it—the ad also gets to the root of what golf is to so many: a game of pain and pleasure. Even a great like Torrance walked away from the sport, so Reebok and Manors must have said the right things... and paid the right amount, of course!
