Miyazaki
Paris Paloma's new song is named after Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki, but the promo skews more towards Hidetaka Miyazaki, creator of the tough-as-nails 'Dark Souls' games. The fact that Paloma wears a suit of armour, rests in front of a bonfire, and is followed through the woods by some kind of twisted ghoul makes us even more curious about the inspiration. Paloma does sound like a warrior, to be fair, determined to remind us that true creativity comes not from AI but "a child with mud-caked hands" or "a prolific and obsessive older man" (we hope Hayao Miyazaki takes it as a compliment). As she pushes her way to the lyrical frontline, she sings: "I'm not a violent person, but I make things with aggression/I'm not a violent person, but my work is one exception."
