Staying in touch with the footy.

Anyone watching 'Two Weeks in August' on the BBC will be being reminded of our reliance on mobile phones in exotic climes, and this lovely ad for O2 offers a different kind of reminder. It isn't immediately clear where the protagonists are heading as they navigate the picturesque streets of a small Mediterranean town but, when they get there, it immediately becomes evident and we can then see them as pioneers in a voyage of discovery that many will embark upon over the next two months.

Because a World Cup is about to take place and there are more fixtures than ever, and, if you are a football fan then whether you are sat at home watching the British rain from inside your living room or fortunate enough to have boarded an aeroplane with enough of the last remnants of jet fuel to reach a sun-drenched paradise, you are going to want to stay in touch with what's happening.

Director Miles Jay provides the visual flourish he has led us to expect and he makes this minor adventure into a mini odyssey that not even Sean Bean's humdrum voice can ruin.
