Médecins Sans Frontières
"Part of the Team"

In the thick of it.
As Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) continues to reckon with the war in Gaza and the plight of Burundian refugees, the charity also known as Doctors Without Borders appeals for monthly donations. MSF wants to make viewers feel like they're part of the team, and that's where director Floris Ramaekers comes in. When a woman donates online from the comfort of her sofa, Raemaekers whisks her away to the frontline. It's sink or swim here, with lives at stake and no time to lose. As soon as she's handed over vital medical supplies, she watches (and helps) a doctor perform emergency surgery. So much for a quiet night in, right? The Dutchman and his crew spare viewers the gory details and scenes of utter ruination—clever lighting and economical set design convey the charity's core actions instead. It needs momentum and money to carry these out, so potential donors are encouraged to become team players and chip in every month.
