Liars Tale
If the UK authorities imagined they would be able to quieten Kneecap after arresting one of their number and tutting from the sidelines as the Irish band conquered Glastonbury, they've got another thing coming. With 'Liars Tale' the band are more defiant than ever, and they land a blow after blow against those who have sought to both censor and censure them. Although Kneecap temper their ridicule with humour, it doesn't soften their bite. What it does do though is broaden their appeal and ensure that the political ideas which inspire their lyrics are being given a meaningful and effective platform which conservative voices are struggling to stifle. The video for 'Liars Tale' by ArtClass's Thomas James matches the song's energy and its intensity. It is a visceral companion piece which perfectly complements both the music and the sentiment of Kneecap's latest round of punfire. Those who claim that musicians are no longer willing to use their platforms to make bold political statements shouldn't limit their praise to Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show – good as it was – because Kneecap have been knocking it out of the park for quite a few years now. Viva la revolution!
