Kneecap

Fenian

The activism of Kneecap sometimes makes it possible to overlook what a cracking band they are. This is in part because of their continuous use of political iconography – especially the tricolour balaclava which has become their leitmotif – but it is also because they are genuinely committed to all of the causes they support, so DAVID suspects they are completely at ease with the way they are widely perceived.

That does mean though that they aren't necessarily getting the recognition they deserve for their music which, as this latest track demonstrates, is fantastic.

Director Thomas James, already a frequent Kneecap collaborator, possesses a superb understanding of the band and their sensibility, and he exhibits it perfectly once again in a promo which brings on to the screen the energy of the music without compromising any of the political messaging. James is also able to make space for the instinctive self-awareness that Kneecap that helps them disseminate their important perspective in a very user-friendly way. Excellent stuff.
