Irn Bru

"We're Made in Scotland from Girders"

3 June 2026

2 mins 12s

It feels gird to be back.

Irn-Bru was bound to mark Scotland’s World Cup return somehow. Thanks to agency Lucky Generals and director duo GRANDMAS, the team has another song to add to the playlist (other tracks include 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)' by the Proclaimers, 'Freed From Desire’ by Gala, and 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie' by Baccara).

Rather than make it all about what happens on the pitch, 'We're Made in Scotland from Girders' pokes fun at the logistics of a World Cup like no other. From concerns over ticket prices and airport security to what Americans think a small hot dog is, the lyrics speak to a tournament that may enrage fans as much as it entertains them. At least the Tartan Army has girded itself for it.

Cameos from the likes of John McGinn, Susan Boyle, and Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos help the ad reach the right level of star power (go too famous and it pulls focus from the brand and its everyman/woman/child appeal). Instead, it's about the fan committed enough to stick a can of Irn-Bru where the sun don't shine.
