Holland & Barrett

The X Factor.

The first job of an advert is to get our attention, and this new work for Holland & Barrett certainly does that. We cannot help but wonder what on earth is going on when a microphone slides down its stand and a woman's knee takes advantage of the moment to begin singing. It is only the beginning of an unlikely anatomical choir, as other body parts belonging to members of the audience join in.

The second job of an advert, having gained our attention, is to do something useful with it, and we have to be honest, the jury's out on that one. To gain new custom, Holland & Barrett should perhaps explain itself a bit... despite decades of sitting among other retailers on our high streets and in our shopping centres, it is possible to have no clear idea of what they are for, and who might be interested in what they've got.

This is an ad which will gain greater notice for the brand, but does it have enough about it to persuade people to cross the threshold and enter their stores? Time will tell.
