Folding under pressure
When Dad admits he’s scared to even think about adding his son to the car insurance because of his wallet, we assume it’s because of the extra cost associated with dubious teenage driving skills. Cue the plot twist: he’s not afraid of his son… he’s literally afraid of his wallet. And within seconds, we see exactly why. Wallet has the type of unhinged persona that we should all be afraid of. What follows is gloriously chaotic. He launches into a sustained tantrum: attacking Dad whilst he brushes his teeth, tipping coffee all over the keyboard, and finished off with the all-time classic; chucking money straight down the drain. It’s brutal. It’s absurd. And it’s genuinely laugh-out-loud funny. Who would have thought a sociopathic inanimate object could be this endearing? The Martin Agency have absolutely nailed it with their latest ad for GEICO. Ron Song plays it perfectly, delivering an understated but stellar comedic performance. And in an increasingly AI driven world, it's lovely to find out that puppeteers were pulling the strings on wallet. Now, if only they could pull on his heart strings as well and get him to behave.
