Wheel-ality bites.

If Harry Potter has Moaning Myrtle, then the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has Moaning Metal. Not only does the wheel clamp in these 20" commercials talk, but he also has a family, hopes, dreams, and self-worth. It's a real pain in the arse, therefore, when life's put on hold and he’s used on yet another untaxed vehicle.

With his dour Welsh accent—a potential nod to the DVLA's Swansea headquarters—and yellow face, he tells Leanne that she's ruined his son's fifth birthday ("Why do you hate my son, Leanne?") and lets John know that irreparable damage has been done to his self-esteem (that does tend to happen when a dog marks its territory on your face).

Of course, vehicles owners never have to be inconvenienced or guilt-tripped by a gloomy wheel clamp so long as they keep on top of vehicle tax. The brand's done anthropomorphism before, but agency AMV BBDO and director Florence Poppy Deary make the most of a new angle.
