"Pool Cue"

60s

Shark attack.

From 'Fast Eddie' Felson in 'The Hustler' to Vincent Lauria in 'The Color of Money' and Mike Watt in 'Spaced', the pool shark is an underrated archetype. The man in this 60" ad for Coopers Brewery would love a crack at all three, we reckon, but he's happy to strut his stuff for the regulars just now. Whether they're happy with this arrangement is another story.

He's at one with the cue and vice versa—if there's a striped ball to be potted, he’ll sink it with some amount of swagger. Part of you wants to do a Francis Begbie and lob a pint glass at him, but it's not to get swept up in the sheer ballsiness of it. We like how one patron sits still as the cue hovers near his cheek, resigned to his fate for the umpteenth game in a row.

Actions speak louder than words here—why talk trash when you can work up a thirst through play? The brand respects those who do it like no one else (and own a foldable pool cue for good measure), but one cannot help but wonder if he has any mates.
