Hooked on a feeling.
Rickie Fowler and Max Homa are bad influences. When they're not on the PGA Tour, they like to hang around tee boxes and push a new kind of high onto amateur golfers: the Cobra OPTM driver. "Smoke one of these," says Fowler, while Homa yells: "Come on, man—everybody’s doing it!" One swing's all it takes to get a man or woman hooked. One should never make light of addiction, of course, but it's hard to laugh at the damage caused by perfect drives. Take Susan, who's forced to choose between her family and yardage, or Mark, sacked from the ambulance service because he prioritised accuracy over 911 calls. That's why the attend a therapy group with the mantra: "Bad drives do not define us!" You'd think the group leader would practise what he preaches, but no: Rob Hogan, also known as Speed Golf Rob, is a wild-eyed weirdo with a beard-o who cannot get enough of OPTM. We should mention that "speed" refers to pace of play, not amphetamines—the brand would rather not get embroiled in a real drugs scandal. It does, however, offer its services to players who crave that fairway high.
