Take Me Back

DAVID's in a Sicilian mood at the moment. Mere days after he completed 'Mafia: The Old Country'—a sun-kissed, blood-soaked game set in 1900s Sicily—Canadian singer Charlotte Cardin and director Vincent René-Lortie present a music video set on a small island off the coast of Sicilia. Rather than a tale of moral decay and forbidden love, 'Take Me Back' tells a story about memory and second chances.

As Cardin sings, "Love is a drug in a drawer/And baby, I dropped the key" or "C'mon baby, take me back/And I'll never think twice again”, she wakes up on the island where's she's drawn to a man (Marin Judas) for reasons unknown. Is he Cardin's lost love, or someone she's worked hard to forget? He's also unsure what to make of Cardin, but Amy Gardner's choreography suggests great passion made way for even greater pain.

There are much, much worse places to explore an uncertain past, with René-Lortie and director of photography Alexandre Nour as invested in the rugged, unspoiled scenery as they are Cardin, Judas, and a sixteen-strong dance troupe. Fingers crossed DAVID has another chance to 'visit' Sicily soon.
