Great Scott!

March 5, 2011. Jacques Bermon Webster II— the teenager who'd soon become Travi$ Scott and then Travis Scott (the dollar must have weakened too much to carry on)—would spend all day on his laptop if he could. He knows he's onto something, a sound that could make him a big deal with a capital B. Nail it, and the high-octane arena shows he imagines between tracks become reality.

Mum Wanda is a pragmatist, however ("I know you love music and you want to do this, but you need to go school first and get your education"). Yet all that does is prompt Jacques to tweet these prophetic words: "One day Travis Scott will be somebody." As controversial and erratic as that somebody is, he's also the kind of talent that brands like Beats and many of its devotees lap up.

That goes for Anthony Mandler, too. Mandler, who directed the promo for 'Power is Power' by Scott, SZA, and the Weeknd, captures the formative thrill of bedroom production, as well as Scott's lifelong affinity for the brand.
