Smarty supreme.

This intriguing ad for Asics features New Zealand born Japanese actor Anna Sawai who portrayed Lady Mariko in the 2024 adaptation of 'Shogun' on Disney. Here she runs into a double of herself while filming a scene and the two of them then begin a strange battle for supremacy... which is hard for either to win because they are so evenly matched.

Nothing is fully explained which adds to the spell it casts and you can't help staying with it to see what will happen next.

There's some great VFX work from Creep in London, especially in making a table tennis sequence look like the best ping pong action since Marty Supreme with the doppelgangers going at it hammer and tongs until a whistle is blown and they build a doughnut-based truce.

The trainers take a back seat but do occasionally loom into view to remind us what this is all about, and that is more than enough.
