Cornering the market
As the debate about set-pieces in the Premier League rages on, Arsenal, who've scored sixteen goals from corners so far this season, are sure to irk rival fans, players, and managers alike with a film called 'A Corner of Arsenal Wherever You Are'. It's not a calculated dig at Fabian Hürzeler, however—it's a plug for Arsenal's official app. Directed by Marc Sidelsky, the ad revolves around the Arsenal Corner Shop, with manager Mikel Arteta behind the counter as you might expect. Regulars include Mahalia, Aaron Pierre, and Asa Butterfield, who—like many opposition players—struggles to get past defender Gabriel Magalhães. The likes of Martin Odegaard and Katie McCabe also pop in when they can. Yet the app means anyone can pop in anytime, anywhere, of course. That lets Sidelsky and company bend the laws of reality so the shop appears on the Moon and the door to the storeroom becomes a portal to the milk fridge. There's also a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo by an alpaca—a nod, perhaps, to the Alpaca pub in Islington. This blend of local knowledge and surreal stardom should lead to more than a few downloads.
