"Pat Cummins Does Stand-Up"

Tough crowd.
When Pat Cummins was rested for the fourth and fifth Ashes Tests, it was to protect the fast bowler's injured back, right? Wrong—the Australia captain wanted more time to prepare for his stand-up comedy debut on Prime Video. Mere seconds into his routine, however, the phrase "stay in your lane" springs to mind. He's bought a spiffy new jacket for the occasion, but it's not enough to make jokes like "What's Rashid Khan's favourite exercise? Spin class!" and "I played cricket with a Hobbit the other day—good little batter, couldn't Frodo" land the way he wants them to. That's what the suitcase full of emergency props is there for… in theory. Not even a rubber duck (as in… out for a duck) manages to get the crowd onside. A kind-hearted sniper would put any other comedian out of their misery at this stage, but there’s no need—Cummins and Prime Video just want to remind viewers to "go full cricket" as the ICC Men's T20 World Cup gets underway. Even if it's all for show (Cummins puts in a strong bad performance), some England fans would love to see an extended set and watch the Australian 'suffer' for longer. It might help with the post-Ashes pain somehow.
