Just Two Girls
Colin Solal Cardo's latest promo for Wolf Alice is a real beaut. Four months after 'Bloom Baby Bloom’ set out the band's stall in resplendent fashion, 'Just Two Girls' is another well-choreographed treat that's warm to the touch and a sight to behold. This is in large part down to the chemistry between frontwoman Ellie Rowsell and Lucy Boynton ('A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story'), as they take the night wherever they want it to go. The lyrics brim with tipsy possibility ("We're still sipping on our Palomas/But the night is young if I know you like I know you"), so Rowsell and Boynton move like they own the place, like there's nowhere they'd rather be. They steal drinks, nab cigarettes, and ruffle feathers in a cocktail bar that needed a kick up the jacksy—who better to deliver it than two friends in "the way that you can't pay for"? Such energy proves infectious, as the rest of the clientele get loose and follow Rowsell and Boynton's lead. Pool tables, the cloakroom, and even urinals become party central as a result—if it all gets too manic, don't worry: "The best part is the debrief on the hangover."
