Lazy Morning

Freefolk's Marty McMullan grades a lovely promo for German duo Used (Marco and Dario Klein), who take a leaf out of Wolf Alice's book with 'Lazy Morning'. Like 'The Sofa', the Klein brothers’ new song defends our right to repose (“Don't want no company/Put my favorite record on, jogger's socks and tea"). They also note "everybody needs a home", which is a problem for the music video's protagonist.

Played by Luna Baptiste, a lodger tries and fails to secure her own place no matter how hard she tries. Hers is a devilish cocktail of paranoia (the word 'LEAVE' haunts her smartphone before long), frustration (€260 for a space on the balcony?), and shame (it's never a good time to let mum know). Her ordeal is grounded but whimsical enough for McMullan to deliver colourful claustrophobia.
