Twix

"Harmoniser"

8 April 2025

60s

Start singing the news.

This ad for Twix provides a left-field twist on the idea of two being better than one... and it's very very funny. Director Tim Bullock's beautifully weighted comic sensibility has imbued a fantastic idea from agency adam&eveDDB with exactly the understatement needed to, well, make it sing. And because it's a facility that people can actually use, there’s a decent chance that it'll become a viral sensation.

There are five scenarios in all, and the best of them tops and tails the ad. It features a young woman using the facility (which will be available on WhatsApp, apparently) to let her fella know that she wants to bring an end to their entanglement... she has more news for him though, and its harmonised delivery can't help but bring a smile to his face.

The quick-fire nature of the other scenarios suits the pace perfectly (though DAVID would have preferred something darker for the guy receiving a medical diagnosis... not too dark, obviously, but darker than something that felt like a watered-down version of what was originally in the script).

Shout out to Dan Beckwith of Factory for nailing the audio as well. It plays its part in delivering the punchlines, and was well worth the time it must have taken to judge the audio to perfection.

This is the second excellent Twix ad in the last month, and very different from the other. This may make strategy wonks a bit itchy, but at DAVID we love it, and hope to see more brilliant commercials for the chocolate confectionery brand in the coming months.
