The Samaritans

"Together Against Suicide"

17 October 2025

2 mins 07s

Alone in a crowd.

Witness direct this worthy tie-up between Brighton & Hove Albion and the Samaritans. It's not long before the Seagulls kick off at home, but the protagonist looks miles away. He snaps out of it when his friend arrives and they set off for the Amex, yet it's clear that all is not well (the pal suspects as much when he turns down a pre-match pie).

It all comes to a head once the match is underway, however. Canny sound design muffles the crowd noise somewhat as the protagonist screams "Everything is so hard!", "Why am I so pathetic?", and "I'll just keep pretending that everything's alright!" Brighton could be five-nil up or five-nil down for all he cares, though he still tries to keep up appearances.

It would be easy for the friend to not give it a second thought, but before they part ways, he asks the protagonist if he's *OK*. Frost and Hanson nail the mild stand-off that so often punctuates this kind of chat, followed by the moment when the act is dropped and real talk starts before it's too late. Every life saved, therefore, is a win for Brighton and the advertised charity.
