"Loss, But Not Alone"

2 July 2025

2 mins 25s

Lost at home.

Rob Sanderson co-writes and directs this pensive spot for The Loss Foundation, a charity that helps those bereaved by a loved one's death from cancer. He and Poppy Cumming-Spain focus on Sarah (Kimberley Nixon) a woman whose husband died of lung cancer, her grief soundtracked by Aphex Twin's 'Avril 14th' and the thoughts of others in the same boat as her and her son.

Time is not enough to heal Sarah's wounds—note how flowers wither as she cries, screams, or stares out the window. She listens to what other people have to say, though, and that gives her the strength to speak up, even as her voice breaks when she says hello. The advertised charity hopes this makes other bereaved feel seen, heard, and not alone.
