"Can't Argue With That"

Much ado about pineapple.

Hawaii's already in the news thanks to the success of ‘Lilo & Stitch', but even more so now thanks to this ace Tesco commercial. It's pizza for dinner, but one ingredient threatens to tear the lead couple apart. Does pineapple belong on a pizza? She says yes, he says no... and it sparks a national debate that gets heated right away ("Do you have pineapple as a topping?" "Get the f*** out of here!")

Director Amara Abbas squeezes every ounce of comedy out of the idea. Some are loud and proud ("It's not something we're ashamed of"), others are scared to be seen with a Hawaiian on public transport. Then the media gets involved ("If you're not putting this on the front page, you're in the wrong business") and what started as a difference of opinion becomes a powder keg.

Before it blows, however, Blue Supermarket tells the couple that Clubcard Prices and Aldi Price Match make items like—you guessed it—pineapple cheaper, which makes dinner easier to swallow. DAVID always wonders if Aldi Price Match promotes, well, Aldi instead of the client, but Tesco's earned a few extra sales off the back of this corker.
