This wholesome Tempo commercial is a sweet-natured remake of Martin Scorsese's 'Taxi Driver'. The cabbie in agency AMV BBDO and director Stefanie Soho's spot is not as, er, intense as Travis Bickle (he never says anything like, "This city here is like an open sewer, you know, it's full of filth and scum)—instead, he offers passengers a tissue when they need it most, whether it's to wipe away tears, bird poo, or vomit. The latter's not as gross as you'd expect—unlike so many sozzled fares over the years, she manages to hold it in until they've pulled over. You can tell the driver appreciates it, but not as much as the passenger appreciates a little kindness and a 'no judgement here' attitude. When he drops a man off at the hospital, he'd love to do more than hand over a tissue, but the gesture still means a lot to the worried passenger unsure what the night holds for him. Whatever the tone of each vignette, Soho nails it from start to finish. Does the man have an unlimited supply of tissues, though? Of course not—the way that's rectified is spot-on and proves that a tissue, more often than not, is an offer you can't refuse.
