Coming in hot.

One of the most reliable frontmen around, Idris Elba plays a comet hunter in another star turn for Sky Broadband. To make matters better, his sidekick is a Border Collie—it's as if agency Sky Creative and director Tom Hooper thought 'One Man and His Dog' would work as a sci-fi blockbuster. And you know what? It does.

Elba puts pedal to the metal (the dog rides shotgun, of course) as a mysterious object enters Earth's atmosphere. The way Elba drives through fields in a burly SUV evokes 'Twisters' and other disaster films, desperate to keep up with a MacGuffin that's "coming in hot". When it lands on a beach beneath the White Cliffs of Dover, however, the surprises come thick and fast.

Not only have a mother and son beaten Elba to it, the lad reveals it's a broadband router—not from space (get your head in the game, Idris), but from Sky. It leaves the man speechless for once, but viewers should talk to the advertised provider if they want "the UK's fastest broadband speeds". If only that router came with a free Border Collie.
