Meditative brilliance.

There's a style of commercial frequently sent to us over the years where you can tell the director has been given so much freedom that the brand has been largely forgotten. The films themselves are often beautiful, but they don't really work as advertising. This ad for Simons directed by Mark Zibert demonstrates how good this style of work can be, if it's in the hands of a director who fully understands the assignment. This isn't just a beautiful meditation... it is first-rate advertising.

The choice of music track is pivotal. just stand there by Fred again.. & SOAK sets the vibe, and proves a perfect fit for the stunning visuals created by Mark Zibert. The melding of the two is magisterial, and the slowly increasing pace then brings more and more of the wardrobe available at the advertised department store into the frame... both metaphorically and literally.

We really hope this is being given the media platform it deserves. That remains the biggest problem for work of this length, and until it's solved, there is a very real danger that the very best work made by our industry is not being seen by nearly enough people.
