This Place is a Shithole

Jamie (Paddy Young) and Will (Jack Shep) live in squalor. Of course they—they're in a film called 'This Place is a Shithole'! Written and directed by Will Wightman, it’s good, unclean fun as Jamie and Will argue about the frightful state of the kitchen sink. Jamie blames Kelvin, but he disappeared six months ago. To make matters worse, the blockage is alive.

Played by Robin Berry, Mr Sticky is a nightmare creature from the Devil's sinkhole. Like a rabid Bollo from 'The Mighty Boosh', it's got a vicious streak a mile wide. With its matted fur, bloodshot eyes, and cursed teeth, it goes for Jamie and Will in uncertain terms. As the monster batters the kitchen door or turns its head, Wightman's wired camerawork makes the viewer feel like they're in danger—not bad for a horror-comedy.

Weapons are a key part of that subgenre (who could forget the cricket bat in 'Shaun of the Dead' or the candy cane in 'Anna and the Apocalypse'), so we're pleased to add Grease Fucker Ultra to the mix. The way Wightman builds tension with a spray bottle trigger is a real treat, as is the final, grotty twist.
