Like we used to.
How far is too far? It's a question at the heart of 'Slaps', a short film directed and co-written by Ali Kurr, who takes viewers on a night out in Edinburgh with Jack (Angus Yellowlees) and Eilidh (Catriona Stirling). After an indeterminate time apart, the two reconnect as they toast a mutual friend's birthday. Ice broken—a good poo story always helps—Jack and Eilidh leave the pub for some old-fashioned high jinks. Whether it's a game of hide-and-seek, a mouthful of beer in the face, or an unexpected brawl in the park, the pair love to push each other's buttons—sometimes a bit too hard, like when Eilidh pins Jack to the ground and whales on him. It's much easier to piss about than say what needs to be said, and both of them know it. Quiet, well-played moments are thus filled with possibility—will Jack and Eilidh turn potential into reality, though? Maybe that's a step too far.
