"Connor's Story"

A heartfelt plea.

This immensely moving film for a charity called Save Our Sons, dedicated to finding a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, introduces us to Connor, who lives with the disease. This is a film within a film as, apparently, a day into filming, Connor suffered a fall that hospitalised him with a broken foot and a broken hip. Rather than postpone the rest of the shoot, its makers took the decision to change the script.

Although the stylised reconstructed shots of the aftermath of the accident are impressive, the heart of this film is 20 year old Connor himself and his plea for help with finding a cure so other boys do not have to ensure what he has had to. The guilt he feels for disrupting his parents' lives and the way his thoughts are for other sufferers gives his testimony real heft.
