Ryder Cup
"A Cousin in County Limerick"
2 October 2025
80s

Come one, come all?
No sooner has the dust settled on the 2025 Ryder Cup (and what a dust-up it was), than this tongue-in-cheek spot takes us to County Limerick, where the 2027 contest will be held. Made before American fans shat the bed at Bethpage Black, the ad encourages more level-headed supporters to seek out Irish relatives sooner rather than later. Hotels and B&Bs tends to fill up, after all. Therefore, the likes of Dan, Jan, Hank, and a bloke who opens a can of worms when he asks where Sean Ryan lives ("Is it Curraghbeg Sean Ryan or the Blackabbey Ryans? Or is it Seáinín Ryan?") head over to meet the family, as it were. They're here to support Europe, right? The American flag in Dan and Jan's case must be a joke—ditto Hank's Stars and Stripes shirt. We like to think the little girl who discovers Dan and Jan’s secret represents every European fan after the events of September 26–28: full of healthy suspicion. If time's a healer, it's got a hell of a lot work to do before the first ball is hit at Adare Manor.
