Life's a fish.
The story of Jonah and the whale gets the PlayStation treatment in a 60" commercial directed by Nicolai Fuglsig. For those unfamiliar with the Bible tale, Jonah spent three days and three nights inside a whale's stomach (some say it was to learn about forgiveness, but DAVID thinks he lost a bet). Fuglsig and agency adam&eveDDB take a different tack to say the least. First, the whale's replaced by the kind of bony, sinewy monster you might see in a 'Resident Evil' game, caught by fishermen who need a bigger boat. Second, Jonah's no longer a Hebrew prophet but a gamer who bit off more than he can chew. Rather than crawl out the front door or the back door (yuck), he slices his way out with his trusty blade. Anchored by the work of 1920 (they should mount it on a wall à la Big Mouth Billy Bass), the ad also features a lovely exchange between the man who was almost fish food and a shocked member of the crew that’s pure silent comedy. The idea is that PlayStation not only makes your heart race, but also tickles your funny bone. It is playtime, after all.
