Adland's got a taste for pickles right now. In the wake of lean, green commercials for McDonald’s and Sonic comes a bonkers spot for Picklebet (yes, Picklebet), an Australian company that wants to shake up the market and move the needle with a memorable launch ad. Is director Jesse James McElroy is up to the challenge? You bet your ass he is. Scored by a loopy dance track courtesy of Partyboi69 (the name says it all), McElroy's spot has "the pickle made me do it" energy from start to finish. A gherkin with considerable influence turns everyone close by into hardcore ravers, whether they planned to throw shapes tonight or not. The less the beat lets up, the more in thrall to the pickle everyone becomes. McElroy's verve and Vanessa Marian's choreography make this a sight to behold, with the brand keen to draw eyes (and dollarydoos) away from more established rivals. Let's see if impulse control's any match for pickle power, too.
