Bodies
Who knew Atlanta rappers Offset and JID were such big fans of Drowning Pool? Best known for 2001's 'Bodies', a track seared into the minds of countless wrestling fans, the nu-metal band are now sample-worthy. In a bittersweet nod to the late Dave Williams, Offset and JID's track, also called 'Bodies', uses his vocals and the lyrics, "Let the bodies hit the floor." It raises the threat level of the song a decent amount, though Offset is content just to let everyone know how well he's done ("I pull up Porsche, I think I'm James Bond/Bitch, I got choices, this shit look like crayons"). JID, meanwhile, name-drops Minnesota Timberwolves basketball player and Atlanta native Anthony Edwards ("Five in your chest, now you Ant-Man Edwards"). Director Onda’s promo elevates the song with visuals inspired by classical art, religious iconography, and death (the ol' Grim Reaper's hard to miss). Whatever Kiari Kendrell Cephus has planned for his third solo album, he wants us to think he's burdened with glorious purpose.
