NSPCC
"The Most Dangerous Time of Year"
6 November 2025
60s

A haunting Christmas tale.
This haunting film for the NSPCC highlights the importance of their Childline service with considerable gravity, as we witness the terror of a girl living in an abusive environment. Although director Sara Dunlop uses a lot of commendable restraint, she allows the viewer to sense exactly where this is going and this amps our ability to empathise with the plight of this poor child, and, by extension, those like her who have to live like this. There is no time during the year when it is acceptable to terrorise children but it is especially poignant to think of troubled children having to swerve violence when others are the centre of their families' love and attention. The Good Agency's excellent script has been rendered into a film that's sure to pluck the heartstrings of the audience and will, we would like to think, prompt donations that will help to keep this vital service running.
