"It's Not a Dog"

No pets preferred.
What would you rather have: a dog or an air purifier? The former, right? Air purifier maker Molekule thinks the latter. Why? Because it wants to make money, of course. But it also wants to spare viewers unnecessary pain and sorrow. As the sweaty spokesman in this madcap commercial puts it, "A dog's gonna die." And he repeats that fact more than you might expect. Shot on 16mm by director Zach Tavel and DP Josh Kuzo for that rough-and-ready infomercial look, the film does its damnedest to make a dog seem like the worst investment possible. A dog sheds, pees, bites, and—you guessed it—shuffles off this mortal coil before you know it. A Molekule air purifier, on the other hand, removes viruses and formaldehyde from the air (can you train a dog to do that?) The spokesman's matched well by the couple who treat the product like a member of the family. He has the last word, however, and what a last word it is: "You're not ready for a pet, you're ready for a Molekule—SHE NEVER LEAVES AND SHE NEVER DIES, RIGHT? Right?" A breath of fresh, farcical air in an underserved sector.
