Don't Look Down
It's hard to believe that 'Don’t Look Down' is only Kojey Radical's second studio album. It feels like the rapper's been around forever, with a string of EPs followed by 2022’s ‘Reason to Smile’. To mark the launch of his sophomore LP, Radical and director Relta deliver a short film scored by 'Conversation', 'Baby Boy', and 'Rule One' (Relta knows the latter well as he also directed the promo for it). 'Don’t Look Down' builds on that film's production values and sense of place. The longer runtime and expanded soundtrack—'Conversation' looks to the past ("Why did my 20s go by so soon?/They said it was good, they lied to you") and 'Baby Boy' muses on fatherhood ("I broke some generational curses so you don't deal with them")—let Relta and his crew flex even more muscles when it comes to scene transitions and art direction.
