Diagnoses
Juliette Larthe, Jess Kohl, Lydia Garnett, and Jesse Glazzard are a four to be reckoned with. Under the name Boy Dykes, they directed the powerful music video for Kae Tempest's 'Statue in the Square' (one of the songs of Glastonbury 2025). Next to get the Boy Dykes treatment from 'Self Titled' is 'Diagnoses', a heady track about C-PTSD, ADHD, OCD, PMDD, and more. Co-produced by Fraser T Smith and Tom Rowlands (one half of the Chemical Brothers, no less), the song greets listeners with an electronic wail that sounds like it belongs in a dystopian medical facility. Once Tempest's rapid-fire delivery kicks in, he offers some welcome reassurance: "It's the world that's sick, baby, we're alright… I'd be more worried if we weren't disturbed." The promo also showcases Tempest's physicality as a trans man. Though the setting might be cramped and oppressive, he puts himself about like a man at ease with himself and not before time. Somehow, the cramped corridors and sterile rooms accentuate Tempest's new-found freedom.
