Pass the Salt (ft. Vince Staples)
Released only a few days before 'Twin Peaks' director David Lynch passed away, this Joy Crookes promo (or visualiser, if you prefer) rocks the whole Red Room look. Shot by Jake Erland and styled by production designer Furmaan Ahmed, 'Pass the Salt' takes place in a room that—you guessed it—none more red and all the better for it. It suits the Londoner's state of mind: "'Pass The Salt' is about a woman I know vaguely, who is nothing short of an arsehole, got jealous, and started spreading rumours about me. The song is basically me squaring up (musically) and being like: "Okay bitch, if you have something to say, come say it to my face."" After three years away, Crookes means business. Her song, which samples 'Requiem pour un con' by Serge Gainsbourg, is complemented by a femme fatale colour palette and sharp costume design. The way she lights a cigarette with a candle is the cherry on top of a crimson comeback.
