Hail to the bus driver.
Dara drives. He drives and he drives and he drives (Iggy Pop had it easy—he was only the passenger!) He likes what he does, however, and the Ballystown Brass Band appreciates what he does even more. Dara takes them to and from practice whatever the weather; rather than cramp the choir's style, he sits in the bus and pores over a book about Route 66 ("Big skies, open roads… no potholes!") If only this was a plug for the Irish National Lottery, eh? If only the band was also a lottery syndicate and… hold on, it is a plug for the Irish National Lottery! The band is a lottery syndicate to boot! It all comes together when Dara's invited into the community hall for the first time—even if he's never sung a note in his life, he's a member of the Ballystown Brass Band and part of whatever success comes its way. Viewers are therefore encouraged to think about unsung heroes in the run-up to Christmas. Someone like Dara, who helps others do what they love to do every week and hold up an umbrella if necessary. No wonder the brand plumped for 'God Only Knows' by the Beach Boys.
