DIY nightmare.
The question you have to ask yourself when watching this remarkable film for Hornbach is whether the brand has a sufficiently sophisticated relationship with punters to strongly suggest, as this ad does, that DIY is a nightmare from start to finish. DAVID reckons they probably have, but it's a close call, as this striking piece of work looks like something that Stephen King might have written. Hornbach has a history of making the kind of work that the industry salutes, and there must be sufficient buy in from the public as well, or they'd have adopted a different approach. This feels like it might test the limits of that idea, but, in the meantime, seems certain to please its real target audience... advertising award juries. Looked at through that prism, it is a wonderfully realised piece of work. Director Lope Serrano, who is represented by CANADA in the UK and the US, has given this absolutely everything, and then some. Serrano's contribution cannot be faulted as the the delivery on this exceptionally bold script is compelling from first to last.
