Young at heart.
DAVID's always had a soft spot for people who jump through windows. He puts it down to the likes of 'Father Ted', 'The Simpsons', and 'Airplane!', where unhinged characters make mincemeat of plate glass. This Hornbach commercial features a great addition to the canon, as the do-it-yourself retailer encourages Germans to spring into action after months spent indoors. None of the cast are in a good way, it must be said. They shuffle around dimly lit rooms with just enough energy to tear off strips of wallpaper, slather themselves with peanut butter or, erm, lick a light switch. What on earth will it take to break them out of this funk? The life-giving sound of the ice cream Hornbach truck, that's what. Cue absolute bedlam—the kind that director Fredrik Bond specialises in—as kidults flood the streets in search of a blue-and-orange dumper truck full of tools, plants, and DIY consumables. Some might think its cruel to steal a little girl's bike, but these are exceptional circumstances. She'll understand when she's older anyway. The brand thinks too many grown-ups sleepwalk into spring when they should be champing at the bit to fix, build, decorate, et cetera. This spot grants permission to be more childish and treat a Hornbach store as a giant toybox—but only if customers promise to be careful with that chainsaw.
