Hemlibra

"The Orbit"

Safety first.

Watching this affecting film knowing what about Hemlibra, and what it's for, is a little disorientating, but you are nonetheless aware of the terrible plight of the parents depicted. Having expected their newborn baby to be perfectly healthy, they have discovered that he is going to have to live with chronic disorder. Ultimately, it becomes clear that this difficulty is haemophilia, and the advertised medicine is going to be a part of his life forever.

The aim of this particular piece of communication is to draw attention to a support group built around parents who rely on Hemlibra to protect their children from this disease, and, to highlight its importance, the film identifies the sense of isolation felt by parents, in this case, especially his mother, when the normal sense of protectiveness that is part and parcel of raising a child become amplified a hundredfold.

Director Joel Kefali successfully captures the distress, heartache and joy in a film that journeys through a boy's life from babyhood to adolescence. His life is mostly examined through the prism of his parents, which is fitting because the highlighted support group is focused on mums and dads faced with the predicament of keeping their highly vulnerable children safe.
