In 2023, Leigh Powis directed the impressive 'Murmuration' for Hoka. A couple of years later, he's back to make not one but two spots for the brand. 'The Race' is about—you guessed it—a race between two runners who tear up the tarmac. It looks intense and sounds it, too, courtesy of a hard-edged soundtrack that threatens to tear ligaments.

Before it does, however, Powis offers his take on the runner's high, that fabled state of euphoria where all is well and endorphins run wild. Sure enough, oppressive electronica is replaced with a choral melody as hopeful as the blue sky that now provides the backdrop. These are the moments the advertised footwear company want to facilitate, when exercise meets ecstasy. The legal kind.
