Last Night's Mascara
2024 was a good year for Griff. Not only did she support Sabrina Carpenter on her US tour, but she also released her debut LP, 'Vertigo'. Her new song, 'Last Night's Mascara', bodes well for 2025, as the singer from Kings Langley conflates catharsis with makeup removal ("I'm rubbing it off like it's a memory of you") and declare her love for Enya ("It covers my eyes, I'm a beauty queen/Running down my face, listening to 'Orinoco Flow'"). As mascara runs down Griff's cheeks, promo director Candice Lo runs with the lyrics and delivers a cleaner's worst nightmare. Every time she touches the floor, walls, or any surface for that matter, it's painted black as night, black as coal. The application is complemented by Jay Revell's choreography, which turns Griff into a supple super-spreader (it's good to use that term in a non-coronavirus context).
